Hanoi's cultural centres with national identities have attracted many foreign visitors, particularly during the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Week.
Wives and husbands of the economic leaders of the APEC economies visited a number of cultural centres in Hanoi.
At the Ethnology Museum, the visitors attended a traditional gong ceremony by artists of the Muong ethnic group to spray for the guests' good health. They visited areas showing traditional houses of the Viet, Muong and Thai ethnic groups; exhibitions on the cultures of the Cham and Khmer people, the life of Hanoians during the war time, and products of handicraft villages.
The visitors also enjoyed water puppetry performances.
The Indonesian President's wife visited the showroom of embroidered pictures of the XQ company in Hue street. She enjoyed hundreds of embroidered pictures, including those depict traditional cultural identities. She was also introduced to the history of the embroidering occupation, embroidering skills and other traditional arts such as tea making and drinking, and traditional music. (VNA)
